In Memory of NWSEO Brother Stephen N. Phipps

NWSEO would like to express sincerest sympathy for the loss of our NWSEO brother, Stephen Nelson Phipps. Stephen, of Valdez, AK ended his battle with lymphoma and melanoma on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the age of 61. Steve was a gentle man who preferred privacy and spoke little about himself.

Steve was an aviation hobbyist who has been employed in Air Traffic Control, Ground Instruction and Meteorology. In Valdez, he worked for the NOAA Nautical and General Weather Service. He was a parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier, a frequent patron of the Totem Inn Restaurant, and enjoyed hiking and biking.

A Funeral Service was held on August 14, 2010 at the Valdez Memorial Cemetery, and a Memorial Service was held on August 16 in York Beach, ME.
