Former Alaska Region Vice Chair Andy Brewington Passed Away on Dec. 10(December 16, 2011) NWSEO member and former Alaska Region Vice Chair Andrew Brewington passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in South Carolina. Andy, a U.S. Air Force veteran and NWS meteorologist, served as Vice Chair for the Alaskan Region from 1996 to 2002. He and his wife most recently lived in Georgetown, SC. Andy is recognized by many of his coworkers and NWSEO members as a true friend and loyal union member. “Andy and I studied meteorology together at San Jose State in 1994. He was a good friend and a true professional who loved the union,” said NWSEO Vice President Bill Hopkins. “Andy was sharp and dependable.” said NWSEO President Dan Sobien. “He was a great guy who served the union well. Andy will be remembered for his generous nature and willingness to go the extra mile to help others.” “Andy was a big bear of a man and as full of common sense as any other I have met in the National Weather Service or elsewhere in my life,” said Peter Nuhn, Director of Membership Services. “All who met him immediately loved him for his kind and open nature. He served the Alaskan NWSEO membership with true distinction and real honor.” NWSEO sends their condolences to Andy’s family. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at St. Paul Waccamaw Methodist Church in Pawleys Island, S.C. Andy is survived by his wife, Lonnie Brewington of Georgetown; his children, Bobbi Frisby of Palmer, Alaska, Andrew Brewington, III of Desoto, Texas and Adrian Brewington of Indianapolis, Ind. -NWSEO-
