In Recognition and Appreciation of NWSEO Lifetime Member Chris Robbins
March 24, 2015
The National Weather Service Employees Organization recognizes Chris Robbins, owner of www.iWeatherNet.com for his continuous work to promote the mission of the National Weather Service and NWSEO. Mr. Robbins, a former meteorologist with the National Weather Service before forming his own company, continues to use his marketing expertise to promote the NWS and NWSEO. He designed and built the “Protect the National Weather Service” Facebook page as part of a NWSEO initiative to keep the NWS fully funded in Fiscal Year 2012. In the first year, the page garnered more than 70,000 likes. Mr. Robbins uses his combined expertise in meteorology and social media to engage the members of this active page which now boasts more than 157,000 likes.
Mr. Robbins also worked with NWSEO Communications in 2012 to write an effective petition to keep the NWS fully funded for the site Change.org. The valuation of Mr. Robbins work with NWSEO far exceeds what our organization could accomplish on its own.
“Mr. Robbins takes the mission of protecting lives and property to heart,” said NWSEO President Dan Sobien. “He has volunteered his own resources, his time, expertise, and financial resources, to strengthen the National Weather Service Employees Organization. We are grateful for his help and proud to call him a friend and a lifetime member of our professional group.”
In March 2012, NWSEO voted to invite Mr. Robbins to become a lifetime member of NWSEO. His work to promote NWSEO continues today. Mr. Robbins offers valuable ideas and advice on how to keep the public engaged through various forums. Many times, Mr. Robbins has re-posted NWSEO content on “Protect the National Weather Service” and run targeted ad campaigns to highlight the work of our professional organization.
